Saying Farewell to Wish Rock Studio

I've been showing some of my oil landscape paintings at Wish Rock Studio for the last few years and am very sorry to see it close. The gallery is housed in an old home and has several small rooms and a particularly warm and inviting feeling.

Peter and Sandra Waldner, the gallery owners, have done a beautiful job of showcasing his work and the work of a handful of artists with a variety of styles. Most of the work featured the beauty of Shelter Island, where the gallery is located, as well as the Hamptons and other scenic beach areas in the Northeast.

I urge anyone living near the area to take advantage of the on-going closing sale with prices reduced 20%. The sale ends with a farewell reception from 2-5 on December 31. Since I'll be out that way over Christmas visiting my daughter in Sag Harbor nearby, I'll unfortunately miss the final party but I hope some of you will make it over there.

I've created a Wish Rock Collection which will show you the paintings on sale at Wish Rock. They will only be on sale until the 31st. You can find the Collection by clicking on Paintings at the top of the main page on this site. Others work can be found at the Wish Rock Studio website: http://www.wishrockstudio.com

(Note: not all of the paintings of mine on the Wish Rock website are still available.)

Manor Park Giclees

Back in the days when a child and her friends were allowed freedom to roam unsupervised after school,  a friend in 5th grade introduced me to Manor Park in Larchmont, NY, which was about 1 and 1/2 miles walking distance from my house. My family had moved to a house in New Rochelle from an apartment in the Bronx the year before, and to discover a beautiful park along the water which I could get to on my own was an enormous thrill.

Decades later, I still often visit this park and love painting its scenic landmarks and it's rocky shoreline over and over again. Although I don't often choose watercolor for my landscape paintings any more, I continue to paint scenes of Manor Park that way. I enjoy having more control over the architectural elements that watercolor affords me and for that same reason, choose watercolor for the commissioned house portraits that I'm asked to do. My little watercolors of the Manor Park scenes that I show at the cooperative gallery I belong to in Larchmont (Mamaroneck Artists Guild) have been so popular that I decided to print four of the watercolors as affordable prints and to offer them directly.

This close-up of one of the two gazebos at the park and the print of Umbrella Point are two giclees I have just added. Each is available as a limited edition of 100.

You can see more of my Manor Park scenes in my Manor Park Collection by clicking on Paintings and scrolling down to the Manor Park Collection.
